Here at Payne Street Records, we love Defend the Melody so much, we've invited her to join our ranks
and grace our pages while she's still in the studio, putting the finishing touches on her highly anticipated debut album.
Like every good explorer does, this lass crosses the boundaries between all things music, shifting effortlessly
between trip hop, folk, pop, and jazz, with a voice that will carry you over these seemingly immovable fences and place you
down gently on the otherside, before you even notice you've moved.
Although based in Melbourne, Defend the Melody travels often, touring and teaching in communities
all around Australia, bringing her own essential sound and style with her wherever she goes. And when you catch her live,
you'll find her heading up a band of the finest kings players, consiting of a cellist, vionlinist, beat boxer, djembe and more.
This is an outfit not to be missed.
We totally can't wait to bring you her album, cos we're sure you'll love it just as much as we do - and we haven't
even heard the whole thing yet! But we do know this much: it does her justice. The songs are wicked, and
you'll definitely have trouble pressing eject on your CD player while this ladies voice is coming out of it.
So for now, please content yourself with listening to her songs here (clips to come), and on her myspace, go to her shows, and be sure to check
back for details on her debut relase, expected at the end of this year.
